The film depicts an armed force wearing the flag of the United States on their shoulders, running through a building in an area of Los Angeles and beating a couple making love, ignoring and passing by a man smoking drugs, and a young red-headed man being violently forced into a detainee transport vehicle along with other red-heads that have been rounded up, and has been described widely as a metaphoric political statement.The men are shown being driven out to the desert, treated brutally, and forced to run across a live minefield. During the course of events a young red-headed boy is shot through the head and another is blown to pieces after stepping on a live mine. During the video a mural is seen with armed red-headed men and the slogan "Our day will come", which is the historic slogan of the Irish Republican Army, Tiocfaidh ár lá. Also depicted are keffiya-wearing red-headed kids who throw rocks and glass bottles at the armored vehicles transporting the detainees, an apparent reference to the iconic images of the Second Palestinian "Intifada".

The 12 year-old red-headed actor, Ian Hamrick, whose character is shot in the head, described the video as "showing violence to end violence."

A boy communicates telepathically with his dog as they scavenge for food and sex, and they stumble into an underground society where the old society is preserved. The daughter of one of the leaders of the community seduces and lures him below, where the citizens have become unable to reproduce because of being underground so long. They use him for impregnation purposes, and then plan to be rid of him.

Jathia’s Wager is a science fiction film about a young man living in an isolated community of humans who must make a life changing decision about his future species. Just as open-source software is a collaboration of programmers creating free code, this film was created by a collaboration of movie enthusiasts, and it is being distributed for free online. The audience is encouraged to participate in future derivative works, and the original source materials are made available for that purpose.

The film was shot in Ventura, CA with 50% of the footage using green screen, with the backgrounds inserted afterwards. Different versions of the film have been released using various Creative Commons licenses: which even allow future commercial usage of the content. Historically, there have been very few films released under such a license; and none that were created using this online style of collaboration. One example of collaboration in the filmmaking process for Jathia’s Wager is found in the “Universal Life-form” character in the movie. The actor was shot in a green screen studio in Ventura, CA; the voice came from a voice actor in the UK; and the special effects were redone 3 times after a flurry of exchanged e-mails. The result: people working together from different parts of the world to create a better original movie. This film was written and directed by, and is starring Solomon Rothman, an independent filmmaker who started the project after his first open source film (’Boy Who Never Slept’) had been seen millions of times. Jathia’s Wager originated as a 7 page concept script that was released online with the call to action: “anyone wanting to help make a no budget, sci-fi movie is invited to join the team” Before production had started, Jathia’s Wager had already attracted international attention . Jathia’s Wager was created without almost no money, by people of all different backgrounds, many of which had never worked on a movie before; they just wanted to contribute for the joy of it. Rothman said this about the project: “The collaborative approach used to make this film is why this movie turned out to be a wonderful creative adventure, in spite of our filmmaking limitations and our lack of funds. I hope we can expand this story and continue the Jathia’s Wager universe; there’s a lot more to come!” The movie is Jathia’s Wager and you can watch it online for free at http://moviepals.org. Simon Brodigan (Cliff Chamberlain) gives up on just about every aspect of his life, and just about everyone in his life has given up on him. He passes the time in his unfulfilling life by working an honest part-time job with a not-so-honest scam on the side. Simon cuts corners, runs from responsibility, and definitely doesn't want to be helped. Eventually, he is estranged from everyone in his life except for one person — an eccentric older woman, Mary Beth (Carmencristina Moreno), from whom he steals while in her employ. She is surprisingly tolerant of Simon's self-destructive behaviour, and her persistent interest in Simon's life eventually gets the better of him. While working for Mary Beth at her cactus shop, Simon finds that his reluctance to improve his life and the relationships that he has seemingly ruined turns to willingness, even eagerness.
Flirting with the concept of ambition, Simon tries to mend some of the wreckage of his past by making up with the father who has disowned him. But, things do not go as planned...
With hopes dashed, Simon believes that he is unable to change and quickly retreats to his old ways. He is tired of hurting the people that he loves. He believes that by pushing everyone away once and for all, they will quit pushing him.
The result is a mistake which has bigger consequences than Simon imagined, and even Mary Beth will have a hard time untangling his untimely mess.
